The Highland Difference |

|
We share the same blessing … Highland staff members bring healing, health and hope to our communities local, domestic and international by being involved in a number of outreach endeavors. Our hospital partners with the Compassion Center, a local community shelter for homeless and disadvantaged individuals. Our goal is to provide free veterinary services to pets of Compassion Center residents. As a board member of Christian Veterinary Mission, Dr. Patti has coordinated and presented programs to veterinarians on incorporating faith into veterinary practice. She has led seminars for veterinary student gatherings on veterinary mission opportunities. In September 2005, she travelled with CVM to Uganda to help establish programs to educate local tribesmen on animal health issues. Dr. Greg accompanies his church high school youth group each summer on their mission trip to Sunset Gap Community Center in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee. Sunset Gap coordinates home repair projects provided free of charge to the warm and loving people of the mountains. In the summer of 2005, Dr. Greg, his wife, Lynne, and son, Brian, served on a medical aid mission trip to Malawi, Africa with Mercy and Truth Medical Missions. This group stayed at Tiyamike Mulungu Children’s Home, home to many children orphaned by the AIDS crisis in Africa. In Brian’s words, this country, although deeply plagued by poverty and HIV/AIDS, is not a place abandoned by hope.
